Franck Ribery was hit in the face with a scarf by a pitch invader during German Cup game between Bayern Munich and Hamburg.

France and Bayern Munich midfielder Ribery, back after a long injury layoff, scored Bayern’s third goal before the invader ran on to the pitch and attacked him with a scarf at his face.

During the game, Ribery had been booed by Hamburg fans every time he touched the ball.

Ribery told German television “Fortunately, nothing much happened. It was a difficult situation, I didn’t see him coming.”

Bayern Munich beat Hamburg 3-1 to reach the last 16 of the German Cup. David Alaba and Robert Lewandowski also scored for Bayern.
