Manchester United were back to winning ways at the Stadium of Light at the weekend as they inched closer to a place in the top-4 of the Premier League points table, with less than ten games to go this season.
Manager Jose Mourinho will hope that they can keep up their consistency for the rest of the season to finish on a high but he will also know that he will have a tough summer ahead of him at the end of the season.
The backline and the midfield need some quality first team additions to help them compete with the best but Mourinho will be more concerned about replacing star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the head of the attack.
The Swedish star has been in terrific form for United this season, scoring 16 league goals already and he is the highest goal scorer for the side in all competitions.
He has helped them to close to 10 points already in the league and is out of a contract at the end of the season.
He only joined the club on a one-year deal and though Mourinho might be able to keep him at the club for another season, Manchester United cannot go into the next season, expecting the 35-year old to play in all four competitions.
So it does not come as a surprise that Jose Mourinho is lining up some star names to replace Zlatan this summer.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, who is currently the top goal scorer in the Premier League is right up there on the transfer wishlist for Mourinho but the manager is also looking at Torino’s Andrea Belotti as another option.
The Belgian striker has recently revealed that he will quit the Goodison at the end of the season and could be available for around £70m while Belotti is currently settled in Italy.
The Italian international is the top goal scorer in Serie A with 24 to his name and is also the first choice for his country.
And his side are not ready to let him go and are confined that he will secure a new deal.
It will be interesting to see who Mourinho decides to replace Zlatan with this summer.
United have also monitored Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and have been linked with Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof for other positions in the squad but do you think they have a shot at the Premier League title next season?
