Valencia are in a situation where they have to pay Manchester City £23 million after the loan spell of Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo but if City signs Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia whom the value as much as £33 million, it can cover their debt.

The Argentine center back is linked with the red part of Manchester also but the player has not voiced any preference for his destination. It seems that the player may join the Citizens where he has four compatriots there in the form of Aguero, Demichelis, Zabaleta and Caballero.

Manchester United had been linked with the strong center back in recent times but now they are strongly linked with Real Madrid superstar Sergio Ramos which may become an advantage for the other part of Manchester to capture the commanding defender.

Both the Manchester clubs suffered a lot last season for their shaky defense and are looking to improve their defensive line. Manchester United have central defenders in the form of Chris Smalling, Johny Evans, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo and need to sign a quality central defender badly. David De Gea’s superb form helped them to concede much less goals. With De Gea likely to leave, they must cover the gaps of their defensive lines. If they do not get Ramos and lose Otamendi also to their city rivals for focusing on Ramos, it will be huge loss for them.

On the other hand, Manchester City also faced problems in their defense last season. Vincent Kompany, the captain did not have a great season. New signing from Porto, Mangala also failed to impress. Demichelis is also getting old and they need another quality center back to contest for the title again.

It will be interesting to see where Otamendi finally goes with interest from both Manchester clubs.
