Saido Berahino has been given his first England senior call-up after an impressive run of scoring form.
The West Bromwich Albion striker has scored eight goals in 13 games this season, also helping England Under-21s reach the European Championship Finals.
England coach Roy Hodgson says of new call-up Saido Berahino: “He’s played so well not only for West Brom but also for the under-21s, he is in such good form and there was no reason to pass over his credentials.“
He also has full of praise for the recalled Stewart Downing: “He’s had a tremendous resurgence of form and I think it was the right time to ask him to come back.”
Daniel Sturridge has not been included in the squad as he is recovering from an injury.
Roy Hodgson said on the absence of Daniel Sturridge: “It was never a realistic possibility as he is obviously still recovering from the calf injury and I’ve left a message for Brendan and he has not rung back to counter that he is fit.”
England meet Slovenia on 15 November at Wembley the Wembley stadium in London and three days later they face Scotland at Celtic Park.
Hodgson spoke about the match against Slovenia, he said “Slovenia are one of the major rivals as they have a lot of players who play for top clubs in Europe, so we regard them as a very serious rival and if we can win it will take us into the New Year in a very good position.”
Here is the 26-man England squad for the upcoming Euro qualifier against Slovenia and a friendly against Scotland:
