Chelsea are ready to loan out young defender Kurt Zouma to German club Schalke, according to reports.

The 21-year is still recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament that he suffered back in February during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Veteran defenders John Terry and Gary Cahill have shone in his absence as the Blues have won first four games of the season under new manager Antonio Conte.

The Italian coach is keen to send the young French defender on loan so that he could get first team football after recovering from his injury, according to Di Marzio.

Antonio Conte is also keen to bring in one more central defender to add depth to his defense as the Blues are heavily linked with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, Torino’s Nikola Maksimovic and AC Milan’s Alessio Romagnoli.

With Conte all set to sign another defender, Zouma’s playing time would be seriously affected as Chelsea are not even playing Europe this season.

Schalke are one of the biggest clubs in Germany and are well respected for their academy players. The club will provide perfect platform for Zouma to continue his development away from Stamford Bridge. However, the German Blues want to have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the loan spell which could make the deal a little tricky.
