French outfit PSG were once against dealt a blow to their European dreams after English franchise Manchester City managed to knock them out of the Champions League quarter-final with a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.

This is the 4th consecutive year that the Paris outfit have failed to qualify for the semi-final of the competition and it now looks like the manager is going to face the consequences.

French national Laurent Blanc has done wonders with the club that has been sweeping the domestic league title over the years but has not been able to accumulate a team that can go all the way in Europe.

And this lack of success now sees Blanc’s future in doubt.

The manager said after the defeat to City that he will take responsibility for the defeat and his place at the club is currently under scrutiny.

He has however got the backing of president Nasser Al Khelaifi who said that the manager and the players gave their all in pursuit of success in Europe.

But with the hierarchy at PSG desperate for some European glory, they may well turn their attention towards another manager.

Blanc signed a new two-year deal at Paris earlier in February but rumors now suggest that he may be replaced by ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho, who was sacked by the English franchise in December earlier this season has been out of a job and has recently revealed that he is ready to take over a big European club preferably in England.

Manchester United are rumored to have agreed on terms unofficially with the Portuguese but with the Old Trafford franchise not making any official statement, PSG are hoping to hijack United’s offer.

Mourinho, who has won the league title in Spain, Italy, Portuguese and England is keen on managing a club that is at the highest level in Europe.

Moving to the French league will give him a new adventure to face and will also provide him with a great chance to prove himself in yet another country.

Manchester Untied are said to offer a lucrative deal for the Portuguese but PSG can easily better the offer and will also provide the manager with plenty of funds to stamp his authority on the squad.

With PSG also proving enough of an opportunity for Mourinho to change his mind, Untied will now have to act quickly if they are to snatch the genius for the next season.

However, it is not yet decided whether Blanc will be sacked at the end of the season so it will be interesting to see what transpires this summer but whatever does, it is sure to be entertaining even before the start of the next season.
