IND vs AUS: India Are In Safe Hands Going Into The World Cup – Abhishek Nayar Hails Indian Think Tank For Backing Suryakumar Yadav

Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar hailed Suryakumar Yadav for his brilliant half-century against Australia in the 1st ODI match in Mohali. The Mumbai-born batter showed a lot of temperament to put up a match-winning partnership alongside KL Rahul to help India win the game by five wickets on Friday.

The middle-order batter scored 50 runs off 49 balls, including one six and five boundaries taking a calculated risk in the middle overs and Yadav’s innings included a key 80-run partnership for the fifth wicket alongside the Indian skipper that helped the Men in Blue rally from 185/4 in the 277-run chase.

During a discussion in Jiocinema, Abhishek Nayar heaped praise on Suryakumar Yadav for his half-century against the Pat Cummins-led side and believes that the team management will be pleased with his performance going into the World Cup in India and that he will have lot of confidence after this performance against Australia.

“Suryakumar Yadav coming back to form, scoring that fifty after one whole year just tells you that India is in safe hands going into the World Cup, There were a lot of questions asked in terms of his form in ODIs, whether or not he can replicate what he does in T20 cricket so very well in ODIs.”

“Today’s innings will give him and everyone out there a lot of confidence,” Abhishek Nayar said.

While SKY has been an incredible T20I batter, there has been a lot of talk about how he hasn’t been able to replicate the same in ODI cricket and the 32-year-old has answered the critics in the style and repaid the faith shown by the team management over the last few months.

You Expect Shreyas Iyer To Come Back From This – Abhishek Nayar

Abhishek Nayar believes that Shreyas Iyer will rectify the errors he made in the 1st ODI against Australia to come back stronger in the forthcoming games and reckons that his experience of playing at the highest level would help him come good against Australia in the next two games.

“He’s a professional cricketer and being part of the IPL setup for a long time and this Indian team for a couple of years now, he understands that you made a mistake and the communication wasn’t great. It maybe wasn’t the right time to pick that single. India was in a comfortable position. But you expect Shreyas Iyer to come back from this,” Abhishek Nayar said.

Iyer is likely to get two more opportunities in the ongoing series to solve the middle-order woes for the Men in Blue ahead of the ODI World Cup on home soil, as he can be crucial for the team in the middle order against quality opponents.
