Jurgen Klopp has already had enough action worth of a Premier League season even as he took charge of the club 8 games into the campaign.
However, he is set to bring in a number of players into the team this summer as he tries to fulfill his promise of delivering a league title to the Anfield outfit.
But the German manager and his club were dealt a severe blow in their pursuit of a shot-stopper after it was reported that their top transfer target is in talks for a contract extension with his current club.
Liverpool have used Simon Mignolet as an undisputed number 1 over the last couple of seasons but the Belgian has cost Liverpool a number of points this season and has often been criticized by the fans and pundits in England.
This has seen the Reds move for Barcelona’s Ter Stegen in the summer.
Ter Stegen moved to Barcelona couple of seasons ago after a superb season with Borussia Monchengladbach but has not been able to cement a place in Barca’s starting XI.
He has only made a few appearances, all of which came in cup competitions and it was revealed that the player, not happy with his situation at the club, is ready to make a move away from the club.
This has seen a number of clubs along with Liverpool and Manchester City scout for the 23-year old with the Reds were seen as favorites to land their star.
However, recently reported from Spanish outlet Don Balon have suggested that the English clubs might not be able to get their hands on the shot-stopper.
The news outlet revealed that the Catalan giants are ready to offer a big money raise and are hoping to keep Ter Stegen in Spain for years to come by promising him more game time in the next campaign.
Recently, Manchester City were rumored to have finalized a deal with the 23-year old however, the player rubbished the rumors and explained that he will wait until the end of the season to see what transpires before making a decision to make the move away from La Liga.
He said: “It’s not true that I have signed for Manchester City.
“At the end of the season we will see what the situation is, and we can talk again then, OK?
This will come as a blow to Liverpool who will now have to turn their attention towards another goalkeeper from Europe.
Do you think Marc-Andre Ter-Stegen will stay at Barcelona next season?
