The selection committee is scheduled to meet this afternoon for selection of 30 probables of the Indian team for the World Cup 2015 to be held at Australia and New Zealand.
The following is the author’s choice for consideration on the basis of the current Deodhar Trophy performances.
Openers: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Robin Uthappa, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Manish Pandey
In this section the top three batsmen is an automatic choice because of their form in the recent matches. With the Indian team looks settled the chance of Uthappa and other opener’s looks very bleak. The next three are the alternate options. Hope that those not picked up will continue their consistent performance in domestic circuit.
Middle Order batsmen: Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayadu, Manoj Tiwary, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, Yuvraj Singh
Out of these batsmen Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayadu will come into the selection. Manoj Tiwary who has been performing well in the Deodhar scoring 151 runs in the semi-finals and 75 runs in finals his selection in 30-probable becomes a certainty. Similarly Kedar and Aparajith also stand good chance in thirties at least.
All-rounders: Akshar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, S Binny, Karn Sharma
In the currently concluded Deodhar Trophy Akshar Patel impressed the most with his batting and bowling skills. He is an impressive bowler who bowls great line and length. He played a crucial knock of 64 off 38 balls to help West Zone chase down a huge score. Ravindra Jadeja is an automatic choice for the Indian because of his batting, bowling and fielding abilities. His batting has improved in recent times too.
Wicket Keepers: MS Dhoni, Sanju Samson, Wriddhiman Saha
In this section MS Dhoni will be my first keeper. Apart from him Sanju Samson and Saha are keepers who have done well for India and List A matches the selection in the team for 30 men are promising.
Bowlers: R Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar, Ishwar Pandey, Mohit Sharma
In this section Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami are automatic choice. India requires good pace bowlers in the World Cup 2015 where pitches will help the fast bowlers so maybe Ishant Sharma, Varun Aaron, Umesh Yadav and Vinay Kumar may get the nod too.
