The current season of the Indian Premier League has provided loads of entertainment for fans all across the world.
But one Virat Kohli has taken over all the batting record in the competition and is currently the talk of the league with his tremendous consistency over the 14 games in the group stage.
The Indian star player has now scored 919 runs in the IPL and is an obvious choice for the Orange Cap.
He has scored 4 centuries and many more half-centuries on his way to the record in a phenomenal season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore who are currently qualified for the knock-out stage with a second placed finish in the group stage.
Surely, Kohli, is in the form of his life but what keeps him so consistent over the period of two months?
In a recent interview, the 27-year old revealed that sticking to the ground and staying calm even with the adoration from fans across the world has helped him rule the competition.
With 54 off just 45 balls in the last group game against the Delhi Daredevils, Kohli helped his side to the second place and also kicked the DD franchise out of the competition.
Taking after the game, Kohli said, “It is very important not to get very arrogant or rude about your form or the way you are striking the ball,” talking about his impeccable form in the IPL this season.
He also spoke about the importance of keeping oneself calm even in the midst of what happens on the field and revealed that it was important for every player to be back to their basics when they lose their concentration in the middle of a game.
“You will have a few incidents on the field where people will have a go at you, but after that sort of chat, you are back to basics, you are back to being normal and humble about what you want to do on the pitch,” he said.
He went on to explain that it was important to stay grounded and not be over-confident about one’s ability.
Being confident of one’s skill is important said, Kohli.
“It is all about keeping that thin line between over-confidence and being confident and calm about your skill,” he added talking to the media after the game.
