Piers Morgan has been up to his old tricks on Twitter by attempting to convince Gerrard Pique to join Arsenal this summer.

The die-hard Gunners supporter is often outspoken in his opinions about Arsene Wenger and he didn’t waste the opportunity to point out the club’s frailties once more.

Arsenal have only three fit centre-backs in the squad and Wenger’s inability to address the issue in the transfer window has seen many Gooners, including Morgan, pulling their hair out.

And with Barcelona and Spain international Pique hosting a Twitter Q&A with the hashtag #AskPique, Morgan wasted no time in attempting to lure him to the Emirates to solve Arsenal’s defensive crisis.

“Will you sign for Arsenal and put us out of our defensive misery? #AskPique” he cheekily tweeted to the Spaniard.

And the 29-year-old had the perfect response.

“It’s very very difficult Piers,” he replied.

“Ask your ‘friend’ Arsene to buy quality defenders!”

It’s something that many Arsenal fans will be begging Wenger to do in the coming days.

Wengers high-profile search for a quality center-back has reached its lowest point yet. With rumors that Shkodran Mustafi’s asking-price is too high, and that even Jonny Evans has a £25m price tag, Gooners are getting desperate.

We’re only two matches into the new season, but there’s a palpable sense of desperation and sadness around the Arsenal fanbase.

Piers Morgan may be a troll, but he’s captured the essence of many supporters’ feelings: The Gunners need help, and they need it now. There’s still a week left in the transfer window to make moves, but time and options are quickly running thin.

At this point, all Arsenal fans can really do is wait for better days, and get these jokes off in the meantime.
