Moving between Real Madrid and Barcelona is a very rare occurrence in football, but those who have usually prove to be successful players.
The last player to move directly from Real Madrid to Barcelona was Luis Enrique in 1996, while the likes of Luis Figo and Javier Saviola have moved in the opposite direction.
Playing for either club is a dream to virtually any player in world football but the heated rivalry between the two makes it difficult to play for both clubs without moving via somebody else.
Still, that doesn’t mean that Madrid or Barca don’t cast admiring glances at each other’s players from time to time.
On this occasion, star striker Luis Suarez has publicly admitted his respect for Real Madrid playmaker Isco and with the Spanish wizard in and out of the La Liga leaders’ starting XI, speculation is mounting.
“Of course I would like to have Isco as a team-mate, all good players are welcome in our team,” Suarez said to Cadena Ser.
“Isco has an incredible talent but right now he is under contract with Real.
“We have to wait and see what happens. If he doesn’t sign a contract extension, then we can talk.”
There has been plenty of speculation regarding Isco’s future and Barca have been credited with targeting the 24-year-old when his contract runs out in 2018.
Suarez’s comments have only added fuel to the fire.
Speaking of the Uruguayan striker, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been at it again with his latest comments on the failed bid for Suarez before he moved to Barca.
“We had an agreement with the player,” Wenger said, per the Mirror. “You can ask him.
“I’m convinced he wanted to join us and then they sold him. They kept him one more year, improved his contract and promised to sell him the year later to a club abroad.”
