India will be without their fast bowler Mohammed Shami and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha for the fifth and final Test in Chennai starting from December 16. Both the players are also missing the ongoing fourth Test in Mumbai
The BCCI, on Sunday, sent out a release saying Shami has “soreness in his right knee and has been advised rest and rehabilitation. He will be going to the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru to start his recovery programme.”
The fast bowler, who has been performing brilliantly in the series, has a history with his knee. He had undergone a knee surgery after the last World Cup and was out for 15 months and speaking before the fourth Test, Kohli had said that the team will not take a chance with his knee.
He had said:“Because he has a history of knee surgery, we don’t want to push a player to an extent where we lose him for the whole season.”
