If reports from the Daily Express are set to be believed then Chelsea are ready to launch a £25million move for Everton full back Seamus Coleman. The Republic of Ireland international is also a Manchester United target going into the January transfer window. The 26 year old has been one of the main stays of the Everton side and have looked to challenge for the top four spot under Roberto Martinez. Coleman no doubt is one the league’s best dull backs and his future will come under intense speculations in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Coleman was snapped up for just £60,000 from Sligo Rovers, and has progressed to be a great attacking right back whose career is certainly on the rise. Manchester United could definitely make a move for the player in January. However, Chelsea’s interest in Coleman is somehow surprising.

The Blues arguably have the best full back in Cesar Azpilicueta who can play on either sides of the pitch. Moreover, Filipe Luis has not started many games ever since his move in the summer from Atletico Madrid, and he is a genuine left back. Moreover Branislav Ivanovic has made the right back slot his own. Thus why would Coleman make a move to Stamford Bridge when they have the positions covered.

However it all doesn’t mean that Everton will sell their prized asset. The Daily Star has a reputation of making p and manufacturing transfer stories since ages. Moreover, the Toffees will also demand something close to £25m from potential suitors. Manchester United could be one of those teams who have the money and can bid in the winter transfer window. But its highly unlikely that Roberto Martinez will allow the player to leave in the middle of the season without finding any possible replacement.
