Barcelona legendary midfielder Xavi Hernandez and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino are not on friendly lines after the recent comments from the latter.
The Catalan midfielder has earlier suggested that Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli could be on a move to their direct rivals Manchester City as he believes that he would be an ideal fit under Pep Guardiola.
However, the comments made by Xavi are not in the best of interest of Mauricio Pochettino as they have made his counterpart a little angry.
Speaking about Xavi, Pochettino has referred to an incident in their playing days in Spain when the young manager was playing for Espanyol and have labelled his counterpart as a liar.
He said: “Xavi is in a period where he loves to talk.
“He was a Barcelona player. He is my enemy. He tried to destroy our focus to win because he hates me because he’s Barcelona and I’m Espanyol.”
Alli is one of the most sought after players by the big clubs across Europe as the 21-year old is arguably the best young player in Europe at the moment apart for Paulo Dybala and Kylian Mbappe who are also enjoying incredible seasons with their respective clubs.
He has scored 20 goals in all competitions for Tottenham this season and remains their key player for the seasons to come. He has also recently won PFA young player of the season for the second successive season making him the biggest English talent in the league.
“Funnily enough, I spoke with Thierry Henry yesterday and we both remembered the game between Espanyol and Barca when Xavi cheated the referees,” the Argentine added.
“Xavi fell down in the box, said ‘penalty’ and they gave a penalty.
“It wasn’t a penalty but Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored for Barcelona and they won the game. After in the replay it was very funny because it was clear no one touched him.
“Come on! It goes from lie to lie to lie.
“I don’t know what Xavi said about Dele, maybe he’s working for Manchester City and wants to help Guardiola.”
The likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich are all credited with interest in securing a big money move for Alli but Mauricio Pochettino is not keen to let his young sensation leave the club at least for the upcoming season.
