Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez was last seen on WWE programming at Crown Jewel 2019. He competed against Brock Lesnar on that night for the WWE Championship to come up short.
His match with the Beast Incarnate for the most coveted title only lasted two minutes because WWE did not want to stretch out the match. Cain was dealing with a knee injury and hence the match was ended in a quick time.
Cain Velasquez tapped out to the Kimura Submission Lock of Brock Lesnar to get written off WWE TV. It was supposed to be a short hiatus for the former UFC superstar. But it turns out that Cain could be out for a longer tenure as Wrestlemania 36 season continues.
No confirmed update is available regarding the Mexican star despite numerous speculations. Rather, WWE officials may be looking forward to teaching him basic lessons.
According to Tom Colohue, the big loss at Crown Jewel 2019 resulted in WWE officials losing faith in Cain Velasquez as a performer. However, this man may do well inside the squared circle if he is given more time and pleasant booking. So the officials still have hope in him and consider a comeback, someday. Thus, Cain is being regularly seen training at the Performance Center to return to the ring,
“A little bit of an update on Cain Velasquez, who was expected to be in the Royal Rumble. He announced himself he was going to be in the Royal Rumble to a number of media outlets on the BT Launch Bus, but he did not end up being in the Royal Rumble because of a late pull.
I’ve spoken quite a few times about the loss of faith that the company has had with Cain Velasquez, however, he is still signed to the WWE. He is still training and preparing and he is expected to return to the company when he is ready to do so.
They are keeping an eye on him. They are watching his development and he is still under contract and likely to appear sooner rather than later.”
Updates suggest that Cain Velasquez could get back to action within Wrestlemania 36. However, there’s no certain capacity is present on Raw or Smackdown to insert him into the match card. His feud with Brock Lesnar was said to be pending. But that rematch is not likely to happen as Velasquez is a no matchup when it comes to pro-wrestling context. Rather, WWE is likely to create a fresh angle for him upon comeback.
