Parvinder Awana took a hat-trick against CSK in the second semi-final of CLT20 2014. Awana took the wicket of Raina in the last ball of sixth over, and then took the wickets of Pawan Negi and MS Dhoni at the start of 17th over to complete his hat-trick. He became the second after Isuru Udana to take a CLT20 hat-trick.
First it was Bailey who has to be credited for the wicket of Raina as he changed the field before the wicket taking delivery and stood at short mid wicket. Raina pulled a delivery and Bailey, who stayed low and scooped up a super catch to see the back of him. Awana came back in the end and cleaned up Negi with a perfect yorker before having the big fish Dhoni caught at short midwicket by Karanveer Singh.
The only other instance to complete a hat-trick was in 2010 when Wayamba Elevens bowler Isuru Udana achieved the feat. He can be termed as a spinner who occasionally bowls fast. He was a member of the Wayamba Elevens side for the 2010 CLT20. After being knocked out of the tournament, Wayamba played Central Stags at Port Elizabeth. Chasing 145 to win, the Stags lost Jamie How in the second over and in the third over, Udana created history.
With Brad Patton caught behind by Kusal Perera, the very next ball, Matthew Sinclair was found short of the crease against a widish delivery which was stumped by Perera. George Worker, who was facing the Hat-Trick ball saw his stumps crushed and with that Udane became the first and the only player to take a Hat-Trick in the CLT20, that too in 2 balls. He was also a part of the Sri Lankan side that reached the finals of2009 World T20.
