With the South African team arriving in India for a long tour which comprises of 3 T-20, 5 One day Internationals and 4 Test matches it promises to be a mouthwatering clash with world best batsmen and bowlers fighting out for their respective countries. These two teams, between them, can boast about some great players.

Here we look at the Five players who can decide the fate of India- South Africa series starting from 2nd October.

1. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is the most vital player for India at the moment. He played a key role in helping India win a Test series against Sri Lanka in their own den after 22 years. Recently, in One-day Internationals he has not been in great form. This series against South Africa provides a chance to regain his form. Virat Kohli is the leading batsman in T-20 format and would look to start the series with a bang.

2. Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla has been South Africa’s main batsman in all formats, along with AB de Villiers for past 2 years. He is one who has all the strokes which can unsettle any opposition. He opens the innings for South Africa in T-20 and One day Internationals. He knows the way how to play in various conditions. The Indian team needs to get Amla early to put pressure on the South African team. Hashim Amla will play an important role to give South Africa good starts and give their bowlers chance to defeat India. He knows how to play spin, pace, but the real challenge is to get used to the conditions.

3. R Ashwin

R Ashwin has been leading spinner for India in the past few months. In the Test series against Sri Lanka, he was the leading wicket-taker and helped India win their first series after 22 years. With the home series against the tough opponents South Africa to begin from 2nd October, he will be the main bowler for India. He is the only Indian bowler in top 10 across the three formats. His role is to pick wickets in the middle overs and also control the flow of runs. The South African batsmen especially Amla and De Villers are dangerous, Ashwin needs to stop them if India has to win matches. It will be an interesting battle. The pitches will also play an important role.

4. AB De Villers

AB De Villers is one of finest batsmen in world cricket today, especially, in the shorter format. He can destroy any bowling line up with his destructive hitting. Being the captain of the ODI side he needs to take more responsibility on his shoulder and give South Africa the total which the South African bowlers can defend or when chasing, he needs to control pace of the game. AB de Villers has the capability to really make the bowling side pay. The Indian bowlers need to come up with a plan to stop De Villers from scoring big runs.  AB De Villiers has the experience of playing T-20 format in India.

5. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni has been retained as the captain of T-20 and One-day International series against South Africa. In the series against Bangladesh, MS Dhoni came at number 4 and did a decent job. His captaincy came under scrutiny, but the selectors have showed faith in him. With the T-20 World Cup to be held in India, MS Dhoni needs to play an aggressive game coming at number 4 and help India to win the series against the tough South African team.
