Partnership plays a crucial role in any Test inning and is very helpful to demoralize the opposition. If a pair bats for long and sometimes even for a day in Test match, the opposition players are sure to be frustrated and often create more mistakes to help the batsman’s cause. Moreover huge partnerships help the team to score big runs in an innings.

We will take a look at highest partnerships for every wicket in Test Cricket:

Stat updated till 6 January, 2015

As we can see the latest update in this record is for the 6th wicket by Kane Williamson and BJ Watling from New Zealand against Sri Lanka. The earlier record for the 6th wicket was also held by the New Zealand pair of BJ Watling and Brendon McCullum last year against India on the same ground (Wellington).

This partnership is also the first record to be broken in the year 2015 as we are sure there are many more to come.

While Sri Lanka holds the record for 2nd, 3rd and 4th wicket partnership, none of the record is held by any of the other Sub-continent team such as India or Pakistan. The record set by Don Bradman and S Barnes for 5th wicket of 405 runs is the oldest record in this list, which is still intact but records are made to be broken and very soon there might be new pair to own this record too.
