Today was the 1st ODI of the 5 ODIs to be played between India and West Indies. West Indies were in total control of the entire game. In the first innings they played very well and scored huge runs. India’s fielding was poor and West Indies took the advantage. In the second innings India was not scoring runs at the rate at which it was required and lost wickers frequently. India lost the match by 124 runs. Here are the hits and flops of the match

Hits of the Day –

1. Marlon Samuels

Marlon Samuels played exceptionally today. He scored his 6th ODI century today and 2 came from India. He kept the scoreboard ticking and brought runs constantly. He had a great partnership of 165 runs with Ramdin. He stood there till the last ball of the game was played. He hit 4 sixes and 11 fours and scored 126 runs.

2. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan was in the news lately for his form. But today he proved everyone wrong. He scored 68 runs and hit 9 fours. He was the highest scorer from the Indian side. Without him India would have lost the match long ago.

3. Denesh Ramdin

Denesh Ramdin was also the another man responsible for West Indies high score. He scored runs at a very high pace with Samuels. They scored 165 runs in partnership. He himself score 61 runs and hit 2 sixes and 5 fours.

4. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami was the best bowler today. Although he didn’t bowl his complete spell, he managed to take 4 wickets in 9 overs and gave away 66 runs. He wickets came in the later part of the innings.

5. Dwayne Smith

Dwayne Smith played very well in the start of the game. He was just 4 runs short of his half century. He scored 46 runs. His runs gave West Indies an upper edge against the Indian bowlers.

6. Dwayne Bravo

Although Dwayne Bravo didn’t do much with his bat but he managed to pick up 2 wickets in just 6 overs. The skipper did a great job today. His team worked very well.

Flops of the Day –                    

1. Virat Kohli

The Indians expected much from Virat Kohli but he disappointed everyone. He fielding was poor today. He dropped catches and missed fieldings. He scored only 2 runs. He must buckle up and bring his best in the next ODI.

2. Suresh Raina

Everyone was expecting Suresh Raina to play splendidly. But he was dismissed for a duck. He showed great performances in the CLT20. Everyone expected that he would do the same in today’s match.

3. MS Dhoni

Everyone had high hopes from the Indian skipper today. But he let down everyone and scored just 8 runs before getting bowled by Sammy. He must rethink his plans and execute them properly in the next ODI.

4. Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma was expensive today. He bowled wrong balls and gave away lots of runs. He picked up no wickets today. He must practice otherwise West Indies will again take advantage of him.
