West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards signed a Kolpak Deal with English County Hampshire and will play for them during the second part of the season. Hampshire recently got promoted and got a chance to play in the 1st division, signing Fidel seems a good sign from them as he will play all the three formats of the game and will also be not considered as an overseas player.
Fidel is now 33years old and ends his international career. It has been more than two years that Field has last played for his national team. Now he is following the path of Brendan Taylor who signed a three year deal with Nottinghamshire.
Edwards upon signing the deal said that he is delightful that he signed a contract with such an ambitious club, he is very much looking forward for his first taste of County Cricket. He also added that it’s an honour for him to follow other Bajans like Gordon Greenidge and Malcolm Marshall.
It will be interesting to see that if he would be again able to produce same amount of swing and pace that made Cricket World take notice of him. Field has played 50 ODIs and 55 Test Matches for West Indies.
