A few hours back it was reported that Argentine central defender Nicolas Otamendi has reached Manchester to complete his move to City from Valencia. But a recent report from Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague claims that the deal is facing complications now as the La Liga side has decided to raise their demands.
Initially, Valencia had rated their star defender for €50m and declared that a club who wants to sign will have to match the player’s release clause. Later Manchester City agreed to sign the player for a decreased price as they would send French defender Eliaquim Managala on a loan for an entire season. Last night’s media reports, however, claimed that due to Mangala’s impressive performance in the first two matches of the season the club has decided to cancel Managala’s loan deal.
Now Balague claims that Valencia are not ready to sell their defender if either of their demands is not matched. Either the Cityzens have to send Mangala on loan and pay €40m or the Premier League side needs to increase the cash amount.

New twist on Otamendi:Deal was agreed by clubs (€40m+Mangala) but changed after Chelsea beaten. Player in Mncstr but VFC want more than €40m

Nicolas Otamendi had a tremendous season with Valencia CF last season in the La Liga., as the club finished fourth in the league standings and their defensive record was awestruck, even better than giants Real Madrid.
The Argentine international was initially linked with Manchester United, but Manchester City hijacked the move later and now is closing in on signing Otamendi.
It will be interesting to see if City would send Mangala or increase their bid. The club is desperate to reshape their squad in order to win back the Premier League title from Chelsea.
