Manchester United have finally placed an ambitious bid for Bayern Munich star and German international Thomas Muller. Bild claims that the Red Devils have submitted a bid around £60 million or €85 million for the German attacker in order to boster their squad this summer. Manchester Unitd have bought 5 players this season out of which only one is an out and out attacker. They bought Sergio Romero in the goalkeeping position, Matteo Darmian in defense and Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger in the central midfield.

Memphis Depay have done a commendable job so far. He scored a brace last night in the UEFA Champions qualifier game and had great impact upfront. But the main thing missing at United is energy and zeal upfront. Club captain Wayne Rooney who has been promoted as a front striker after many years is finding it hard to adjust himself. The English international has lost his fierceness upfront and he is no more the poacher he used to be earlier in his career. In order to achieve greater heights this season the club needs to find a proper attacker.

The latest jolt which United faced today evening is when the lost their key target Pedro Rodriguez to league rivals Chelsea. Manchester United were favourites to bag the Barcelona winger’s signing but Chelsea hijacked the deal last moment and Pedro is now on the verge of signing for the defending Premier League champions.

It has been quite some time now that the Manchester club has been linked with Thomas Muller. Since the arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger several European media started linking the German attacker with the club.

Though Bayern Munich CEO Karl Heinz-Rummennige has clarified a number of times that Muller is one of their most priced possessions and they would not sell him under any circumstances, it is being reported that United have now become desperate in the transfer market and are ready to splash any amount in order to bag his signature.

Thomas Muller is at present one of the best player in the world. His versatility upfront makes him even more desirable. After starting his career on the wings, Muller over the years has played several other zones. He has played as a striker for Bayern a number 10 and also as a wide forward.

Muller’s addition to United squad will be a huge boost for the twenty times league holders. It will be interesting to see if Bayern agrees to such a deal or further increases their demand.
