An exciting last minute conversion of a penalty corner into a goal by Harmanpreet Singh helped India defeat England to retain the Sultan Johor Cup 2014. India won the finals by 2-1. It was a excllent match for both of the teams as they fought it out. The first half saw both  the teams missing a lot of chances. India’s keeper Abhinav pandey did a great job by saving lot of goals of England team in 9, 26, 32 and 46, 57 th minute. Engalnd goalkeepr was also brilionat saving at elast 3 Indian efforts. England were the dominat team in the possesion stats with 61% as compared to 39. The penalty corner conversion was much better for India as they converted 2 out of 3 as agaisnt one out of 2 by England.  The Indian team was cool under pressure. The first half ended 0-0.

The second half began with India getting a peanlty corner in 53 minute being converted by Harmanpreet Singh to give India 1-0 lead. After few minutes England scored a great goal as the Indians thought that the shot would be taken by one England, who turned orund about to left and passed it on to another player to level up the score at 1-1. Both of teams played a good game, thouhg England dominated most of the game, India earned their third penalty corner in last minute, that was converted into a goal.

These young Indian players have performed well in this tournament especially Harmanpreet Singh scoring 9 goals. This win will give them a boost to play much more better in the coming matches. The franchises will look at these players for a contract in HIL. These boys have done the country very proud by playing consisently in the tournament. Lets hope that these young Indian players work hard for the country to win more laurels and medals. I also desire that FIH considers some of these players to represent the country in senior level
