Brock Lesnar and John Cena have been absent from WWE ever since Wrestlemania 33. Lesnar won the Universal championship at that event whereas Cena proposed to real-life girlfriend, Nikki Bella in front of 75,000 audience.
However, the beast incarnate appeared in the post-Wrestlemania episode but still due to his first title defence. He has already breached the rule of WWE championship defence on a span of 30 days. Previously, during his first title reign, the same thing happened.
The latest speculation is that the inaugural Great Balls of Fire PPV will feature Brock Lesnar. Originally, Braun Strowman was scheduled to be his opponent at the said PPV. With him being injured, a new name should be pitted against him. Either Seth Rollins or Finn Balor would likely to fill the spot.
With that being said, it is evident that Brock Lesnar would return prior to the PPV to hype up the title match. Making the rumours true, WWE’s listings now feature him in the Raw-exclusive PPV in July. In addition, he is also being advertised for the go-home episode of Monday Night Raw, for the PPV.
The Episode will take place on July 3rd whereas the first edition of Great Balls of Fire is scheduled to happen on July 9th at the American Airlines centre in Dallas, Texas.
On the other hand, John Cena has been listed on the Smackdown Live episode on July 4th. This is a certain indication that he will be back sooner than expected. The rumours of Cena returning earlier surfaced on the internet. WWE’s listing only confirms the fact.
It is also being said that John Cena will be back for the Money in the Bank PPV. This year the exciting event will be a Smackdown-exclusive. WWE will try to pull all the stops to make it a successful one. So, a possible appearance from Chris Jericho can’t be ruled out, as well.
It is to be noted that WWE is dealing with a record low ratings ever since the Wrestlemania season is over. The lack of star power on the TV is the reason behind this. With the heavy names returning in near future, the ratings should also get an upward direction.
