Diego Costa’s Chelsea Exit Looms Large, Diego Simeone Keen To Bring Him Back
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is desperate to sign Chelsea striker Diego Costa after missing out on other transfer targets this summer, according to reports.
Chelsea Ready To Sell Costa
The Premier League champions are willing to let the Spanish striker Diego Costa leave Stamford Bridge. The 28-year old is valued at just £30million by the Blues, which is significantly lower than their recent evaluations which were close to £60million.
However, the rift between Costa and manager Antonio Conte has put Chelsea in a weak position to negotiate over the transfer fee. Atletico Madrid are currently offering £22m to sign Costa as they eye a bargain deal for the Spaniard in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are just happy to get his wages off their records for the next season as they look to sign a new striker after missing out on Romelu Lukaku, who preferred joining Manchester United.
The Blues are linked with the likes of Alvaro Morata, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Andrea Belotti but all their transfer targets are very expensive which would see the club break their transfer record.
According to Independent, Chelsea are confident that Atletico Madrid will meet their asking price of £30million in the coming days. Costa had joined Chelsea in 2014 from Atletico and managed an impressive 59 goals in 120 appearances winning two Premier League titles in three seasons.
Simeone reunion on cards
Costa has always admired his former club despite being at Chelsea in the past three years. He intended to move back to his home club last summer after Jose Mourinho left but Conte managed to stick with him but the striker could be back to Madrid and ply his way into the side cometh January.
Earlier reports suggested that Atletico Madrid are looking for a loan deal with Turkish side Besiktas for six months before he returns to Spanish La Liga as the club are currently on a transfer ban and cannot play any of the signings they make this summer until January.
Atletico Madrid have already missed out on Alexandre Lacazette, Vitolo and Sandro Ramirez this summer and a move for Diego Costa looks imminent. Los Rojiblancos have also managed to tie down Fernando Torres for one more year as well as Antoine Griezmann for the foreseeable future.
