Professional wrestling Legend Paul Heyman who is currently the Advocate of the WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns recently talked about the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and her potential on running as a heel for the first time in her career.
Becky Lynch is working in WWE since 2013 and she can be considered as one of the homegrown talents of WWE whom WWE made famous. It took quite a time for the five times WWE Women’s champion to become the best in the promotion. She is currently holding the WWE SmackDown Women’s champion quite strongly and she is engaged in a Feud with Bianca Belair right now.
But this is going to be her first heel run in her WWE career. She became famous as a babyface in WWE and at a point she was the face of the promotion. She signed a million dollar contract with WWE recently and on the very first night of a return she snatched out the WWE SmackDown women’s Championship from Bianca Belair.
It could have been really difficult for someone who always played a babyface role. For example, wrestlers like Jeff Hardy or Rey Mysterio is mostly famous for being babyfaces in professional wrestling. Suddenly turning them heel would be very difficult for both the fans and them to swallow it. Same can be said in case of Becky. But honestly she is doing her role quite well and we believe she can be an excellent heel.
Paul Heyman who is currently the Advocate of the WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns recently spoke on The New York Post where he talked about the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and her potential on running as a heel for the first time in her career. He said;
“If the audience wants to embrace Becky Lynch as she shows this side of her personality after taking a year and a half off, after having a baby, becoming a mother, the responsibilities and the obligations and accountabilities that go along with the role in her life then if the audience wants to embrace Becky Lynch, embrace Becky Lynch.
“And if the audience finds that is a saltier side of her personality that’s worthy of their contempt and disdain then they will bestow upon her a reaction that is akin to that emotion. I’m not a big believer in the positioning of people as protagonists and antagonists, I think these personalities have multiple sides to them.
“Events in life will change your perspective, demeanor and the way you address people. So, if there is a more coarse side of Becky’s personality that is now coming to the forefront and you’re a fan of Becky then embrace it and accept it. And if you just judge someone by their immediate actions and their short-term perspective then I guess you now have a villain for whom you can root against.”
