WWE Creative received a sigh of relief after Finn Balor suffering a head concussion did not turn out to be a fatal one. On the superstar shakeup night of Monday Night Raw, he competed in a match against Jinder Mahal. Jinder connected with a vicious right elbow to Finn’s head during the match which possibly would have sidelined him for weeks.
However, Finn Balor has undergone a medical test prior to this week’s Raw where he passed all the tests. As a result, we have seen him competing in a match against Curt Hawkins.

Now, ever since his return from the shoulder injury, Finn Balor is out of any concrete storyline. He started featuring in some random singles and tag matches where fans have expected that he would be involved in championship storyline. He never lost the Universal title and rather forfeited it after last year’s Summerslam.

Now, the recent reports from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggested that The Demon King has to wait a bit longer until he gets his title opportunity. As for now, until and unless Payback is gone by, WWE creative can’t arrange a proper feud for him. The initial angles for this one PPV were sketched from the Wrestlemania fallouts. Hence, there was no scope for him from the storyline perspective.

As indicated by WWE previously, he will have a major feud against Bray Wyatt on Raw. But, first Bray will have to end his task in hand at Payback i.e. to take on against the Viper, Randy Orton. There are literally zero chances of him winning the WWE title on that night since already a new number one contender has been crowned on Smackdown Live.

Quite surprisingly, even before this one title match, WWE has made the match between Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton official for the Backlash PPV. So, it’s evident that Bray will start feuding with another demon persona that is of Finn Balor’s.

Meltzer also stated that once this feud is over, Balor would claim his championship rematch. This would mark a much-anticipated title match between Brock Lesnar and Finn Balor. Fans have always wanted to see this one for a long time. But, before that, Lesnar would probably fight Braun Strowman at the Extreme Rules PPV for the championship.
