Ravichandran Ashwin’s form, ahead of the T20I World Cup 2022, is being seen as a positive sign by former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal. Though there remains huge competition for spinners’ positions in the Indian team, Kamran Akmal has a lot of faith in off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
The T20I World Cup 2022 isn’t too far away and there’s not a lot of time left for players to stake their claim for a berth in India’s squad for the showpiece event.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s Form Ahead Of 2022 T20I World Cup A Positive Sign For Indian Cricket: Kamran Akmal
As far as the Indian spinners’ selection goes, plenty of big names are in the fray, including Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav.
At the moment, Ravindra Jadeja seems to be the only spinner to have cemented his place in the squad, that too because of his skills with the bat, while the rest of the spots are still up for grabs.
As far as former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal is concerned, Ravichandran Ashwin has a fine chance of making it to the flight to Australia.
“Ashwin is a proven campaigner and his form ahead of the T20 World Cup is a positive sign for Indian cricket. He impressed once again with his variations,” said Kamran Akmal in a video on his YouTube channel.
Ravichandran Ashwin marked his return to India’s T20I setup with the tour of the West Indies. He picked up a total of three wickets so far in 3 T20Is at a strike rate of 24 with an economy rate of 6.66. Though the number of wickets that the off-spinner has taken is a bit low, his economy rate is a huge plus, especially as a spinner.
With 64 scalps in 54 matches, Ravichandran Ashwin is India’s fourth highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals. Only Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are ahead of him.

“He has a lot of experience playing T20 cricket and is a matchwinner. It adds to the confidence of the team when you have someone like Ashwin to bowl in the middle overs,” said Akmal.
